What are the symptoms of canine parvovirus?
You will know if there is something wrong with your dog. The effects and symptoms of parvovirus are very distressing for the dog, and cause a lot of pain.
Parvovirus replicates in the marrow of bones and lymph nodes which causes damage to intestinal crypts and causes the disease-fighting white blood cells to be destroyed. At this stage, the virus is called intestinal parvovirus. If it continues then it causes such damage that it allows bacteria in the stomach to go up into the bloodstream and reproduce, causing something called cardiac parvovirus. This can lead to blood poisoning and possibly could lead to organs malfunctioning.

How is it diagnosed?
Normally your vet will perform a diagnosis with an examination, urine tests and ultrasounds and x-rays of the stomach area. Blood tests and cell counts can help to pin down the parvovirus, as the virus attacks and kills white blood cells.
Diarrhea and vomit in Parvovirus cases will be very severe, your dog will hold almost nothing down, and both of these symptoms must be present for it to be parvovirus.
